Why I Never Say No to Bangs (New Video Inside)
"I don't really do bangs."
"My last stylist would barely trim them."
"She said my face shape wasn't right for it."
I hear some version of this from a new bang client almost every week. And every time, it kind of blows my mind.
Bangs are one of my favorite things to cut. Not tolerate. Not "sure, I guess." Favorite. I offer bang trims as a standalone service, I book clients in every six to eight weeks for them, and it's become one of my best tools for staying connected to people between their bigger appointments. It's fifteen minutes in the chair that keeps the relationship warm and the client coming back.
So when I had a day at the salon that happened to be a total bang bonanza — client after client, all different face shapes, all different asks — I grabbed my camera. Not because it was unusual. Because it's exactly the kind of day I wish more stylists felt confident having.
The new video walks through:
- How I consult with clients about bangs — what they're picturing, what they're scared of, and how I get them talking so I actually understand what they want
- How I customize the shape and length to fit their face
- How I style them once they're cut, so the client leaves knowing how to recreate the look at home
- The tools I reach for and why
- A real, unsponsored first take on the new Fancy scissors and guarded razor in rose gold — what I liked, what surprised me, what I'd tell you before you buy
If you've ever felt your stomach drop a little when a client says the word "bangs," this one's for you. You are not alone, and it is a learnable skill, not a personality trait some stylists just have and others don't.

I'd love to know — what's your relationship with bangs? Confident, cautious, or straight-up avoidant? Hit reply or drop a comment on the video. I read all of them.
