My Take on a Frenchie Bob (and Why I Reached for the Razor)

business technique

Let me tell you about the tool I reach for before almost any other: my straight blade razor.

I have a new video up, and I'm a little obsessed with it. It's my take on a Frenchie Bob — soft, undone, effortless in that way that makes people stop and ask, "who does your hair?"

This one's not a heavy tutorial. It's a fun little video to get you inspired. Consider it permission to play.

Why the razor?

Because razor cutting is one of my great passions behind the chair. And I don't say that lightly.

There's something a razor does that scissors just can't. It softens. It gives movement. It hands your client that lived-in, air-dried, "I woke up like this" texture that makes their hair feel easy — not just on the day of, but every day after.

And here's the thing most stylists don't realize until they try it: effortless hair is how you win a client for life.

The niche that sets you apart

Razor cutting isn't super popular. Which is exactly why it's such a gift.

If you live in a small town, this can genuinely be your defining thing. The skill nobody else in a twenty-mile radius is offering. And even in a bigger city, where the competition is fierce, being the razor person makes you memorable in a sea of sameness.

I know it can feel intimidating at first. I hear it all the time:

"Won't the razor damage the hair?"

"What if I take off too much?"

"Razors kind of scare me, honestly."

I get it. I felt all of that too. But once you learn the technique — how to hold it, how to let it glide, how to read the hair — it stops being scary and starts being your favorite part of the day. I promise.

This is how they fall in love with you

When a client's hair moves the way it's supposed to... when it dries soft and falls back into place without a fight... when they don't have to work for it?

They come back. Over and over. They tell their friends. They stay loyal for years.

That's not a fluke. That's a skill you can build.

Want to go deeper?

If this lit something up in you, I'd love to teach you. I have a razor cutting mini course — my more in-depth tutorials and training, where I walk you through the technique that changed everything for me and my clients.

For now, go watch the Frenchie Bob video, grab your razor, and play a little. You've got this.
